Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is a law that requires businesses to obtain consent before they send commercial electronic messages to consumers. The law is intended to protect Canadians from unwanted and unsolicited commercial emails, text messages, and faxes, as well as telemarketing calls.

CASL applies to all commercial electronic messages sent from or received in Canada that include an advertisement or a promotion of a product or service. It also applies to any message sent by Canadian businesses for the purposes of solicitation, including surveys, contests, and other forms of market research.
