CalOPPA (California Online Privacy Protection Act)

Osman Husain Apr 10, 2023 3:48:00 PM

CalOPPA is a law that protects the privacy of California residents by requiring businesses to disclose how they share people's information. The law also gives consumers more control over their personal information.

Companies must provide Californians with disclosures about the types of personal information collected, how it is used and shared, and with whom it may be shared. Companies must also give consumers an opportunity to opt out of the sharing of certain types of data.

CalOPPA requirements apply to all companies that collect personal information from Californians, including businesses based outside of California if they offer services to or solicit customers in California.
