Bundled banners cost dealers shoppers.
And the data that sells cars.
Some website platforms and compliance suites switch on their own banner at the strictest setting, for every visitor in every state. Dealer teams describe the same four problems.
The platform turns on its default banner across the store's site, and changing it means going back through the vendor.
A full-screen banner covers vehicle photos and prices before a shopper on mobile sees a single car.
Blocking every script for every visitor cuts GA4 and ad data in states that only require an opt-out.
Plaintiffs' firms use California's wiretapping law (CIPA) against chat widgets, session replay and ad pixels on websites.
Block, ask, record.
Set by state.
Tracking laws cost dealers two ways: fines from state privacy regulators, and private lawsuits under wiretapping and video-privacy laws. Both come down to tracking shoppers without consent.
Statutory damages per violation under CIPA, California's wiretapping law (Penal Code section 637.2).
Ad, analytics and video pixels wait until the shopper agrees, in states where the law or the lawsuit risk calls for opt-in.
The banner matches the shopper's state: opt-in, opt-out or no banner at all.
Every choice goes into a consent log the dealer can export as evidence.
A banner that leaves the car in view
A full-screen consent banner can cover most of a phone screen before a shopper sees a single vehicle. Enzuzo's notice sits along the bottom of the screen, sized to the rules in the shopper's state.
In opt-out states, a short notice with OK and Manage Cookies takes 17% of a phone screen.
California shoppers get equal Allow All and Decline buttons, plus a toggle for each cookie category.
The banner's position is set per site, so it doesn't sit on top of chat or trade-in tools.
Colors, fonts and copy match the store's site, or the web team builds its own design through the API or CSS.
Consent that changes at the state line
Rules by state
-
Geo rules: opt-in, opt-out or no banner, chosen by the shopper's state or country.
-
Texas and California on one site: a Texas shopper gets a light opt-out notice while a California shopper is asked before tracking starts.
-
Global Privacy Control: browser opt-out signals are honored.
Every rooftop
-
One dashboard: every store's site, banner and consent log in one place.
-
One template: build the group's setup once and use it on each store's site.
-
Group analytics: opt-in rates and consent logs grouped across domains.
-
One quote: pricing based on the group's total unique visitors.
Ad data
-
Google Consent Mode v2: Enzuzo is a Google Gold-certified CMP, so Consent Mode v2 is built in.
-
Modeled conversions: when a shopper declines, Google's tags send cookieless pings that feed conversion modeling once the site passes Google's traffic thresholds.
-
Tracking where it's allowed: opt-out states keep tracking on until a shopper opts out, so GA4 and ad data keep flowing.
Showing a banner isn't the same as blocking
CIPA claims turn on tracking that starts before a shopper chooses. Plaintiff firms scan sites for Meta Pixel, TikTok, GA4 and live chat firing before consent, and a banner that appears while those tags load anyway doesn't protect the store.
Enzuzo blocks those scripts until consent is given, then timestamps every decision.
-
Blocks ad, analytics and chat scripts until the shopper agrees, in the states where the law calls for it.
-
Scans each store's site and flags tags that fire before consent, like a Meta Pixel or TikTok script.
-
Alerts the team when new scripts appear, including ones the website provider adds.
-
Equal choices where the law requires them, with no hidden decline button.
-
State rules start from Enzuzo's legal recommendation for each region.
Consent that changes at the state line
Enzuzo scans each store's site and lists every cookie, pixel and script it finds.
Pick opt-in, opt-out or no banner for each state, and size the banner for a phone screen.
Add one script through Google Tag Manager, or have the website provider add it. Consent logs start recording right away.
Questions dealers ask
Do car dealerships need a cookie banner?
Most dealer sites need one, because they run ad pixels and draw shoppers from states whose privacy laws require an opt-out of tracking. Many dealers also ask California shoppers for consent first, because of lawsuits under CIPA. In states without a privacy law, a light notice or no banner can be enough.
Can a dealer site use opt-out in Texas and opt-in in California?
Yes. Enzuzo reads the shopper's location and applies the rules set for that state, so a Texas shopper can get a light opt-out notice while a California shopper is asked before tracking starts.
How accurate is the state detection?
Enzuzo reads the shopper's state from their IP address. It's dependable for opt-in states like California, and near a state border it can occasionally place a shopper in the neighbouring state.
Does a cookie banner hurt Google Ads and GA4 data?
A banner that blocks every script for every visitor cuts Google Ads and GA4 data; one set by state keeps most of it. Enzuzo also supports Google Consent Mode v2, which keeps conversion modeling working when a shopper declines.
Can Enzuzo control scripts that an OEM or the website provider loads?
Enzuzo finds scripts added by OEMs and website providers and can block them until consent, with two limits. Blocking a script an OEM program needs can break that program, so dealers should clear those with the OEM first. And a pixel the website provider loads before the banner needs the provider to install Enzuzo on their side.
Can a dealer replace only the cookie banner from an all-in-one compliance suite?
Yes. Enzuzo handles cookie consent and the rest of the suite stays in place. Turning off the old banner may need a request to the website provider that installed it.
How is Enzuzo priced for a dealer group?
A dealer group gets one quote covering every store's site, based on total unique visitors across the group. Bring the visitor count for each site to the demo to get it.
